Baby turns Two

So my baby turns two today.  We actually celebrated his birthday a month or so ago kind of on the fly so that daddy could be there.  At the time we didn’t think that Mahonrri would be back for his actual birthday, but turns out that he is!  Seven weeks away was enough.  It was time to be back with family.

The party was a lot of fun.  Just family most of the time, but the neighbor kids all came over in time for the good stuff: the pinata and cake.  Everyone played and jumped and had a good time, then went home with pockets bulging with candy.  We were left with a gazillion balloons to stab and a bounce house that reeked of sweat, that funky wet dog smell, and urine… yes, urine (but hey, I didn’t have to clean it, plus I was pregnant, so jumping in it wasn’t really going to happen for me anyway.  As for everyone else… ).

We don’t have trees and we couldn’t find any other place to anchor the pinata, so we just used a broomstick and zip-tie… I secretly hoped that one of the kids would hit my hubby… Don’t act like you don’t agree.  Pinatas are great fun to smack around, but an innocent bystander getting wopped is much more entertaining.  I was not so lucky though.  Darn.

How’s that for a tantrum face picture to show at his wedding?  Yeah, he was not a fan of having to share and take turns.  But there’s nothing like seeing candy fly across the lawn to make a meltdown turn around.

Everyone was so generous!  Thank you all!!!

AAAHHH! What a great party. Your house is such a fun backdrop to the scene (good call on the paint color). I can’t believe little Jonah is 2. They grow up so fast…
